OAAA Announces 2002 OBIE Judges Panel to Convene March 15 in New York
Washington, DC (March 6, 2002) ~
The OAAA is pleased to announce the seven member judging panel for the 2002 OBIE Awards. The OBIE Awards recognize creative excellence in outdoor advertising.
Judging will take place on Friday, March 15, 2002, at New York’s Hudson Hotel, where the team will review close to 1,500 images. Celebrating 60 years in 2002, the OBIE Awards will be presented on June 20 at the David M. Schwartz Center in the Parsons School of Design.
The judges are:
Jay Schulberg (Chief Judge)
Former creative head of Ogilvy & Mather and of Bozell (NY), Jay is perhaps most well-known for helping create the “Milk Mustache” campaign. He is also the writer/creative director of the OAAA’s current public service campaign, “Pass it On,” done in partnership with the Foundation for a Better Life.
Clear Channel Outdoor
A senior vice president of creative for Clear Channel Outdoor, Tony helps guide more than 50 artists in 45 major markets to create better outdoor at the local and national level.
Jackie End is creative director on some of TBWA/Chiat/Day’s most visible accounts, including Nivea, Wonderbra, Bic, and a Merit winner in last year’s OBIE Awards for the still talked about Absolut New York billboard in New York.
Zenith Media (NY)
Scott is a senior vice president and director of out of home media for Zenith Media in New York. Scott has more than 12 years in media buying and extensive experience in the purchasing of outdoor.
BBDO Canada (Toronto)
Jack is president of BBDO Canada and has been in the “imagination business” for more than 20 years. Last year’s OBIE Best of Show winner for Daimler Chrysler Jeep, Jack brings the international perspective to the judging table.
Viacom Outdoor Group (San Francisco)
Sean is creative director for Viacom Outdoor in San Francisco and is a popular speaker on the subject of designing for outdoor.
The Media Kitchen (NY)
Paul Woolmington is CEO and co-founder of The Media Kitchen where he cooks up creative solutions for clients, and is an avid spokesperson on media and creativity-related topics.
