Digital billboards, like this one on East Main Street in Albert Lea, are becoming a new trend for businesses and companies.

This one was installed last month.

Fairway Outdoor Advertising, who own and install the signs, says it’s an easier way for businesses and companies to get more creative and reach the public.

“The digitals you can upload from a TV station, you can upload weather forecasts, and you can upload count downs as to events,” Sales Manager Ray Kosis said. “If you’re having a promotion on a particular weekend, you can do that too.”

He says this will also save companies money when it comes to printing costs.

KIMT is one of the first businesses to use the billboard.
