Special Notice About Student Scholarships

Foundation for Outdoor Advertising Research and Education (FOARE) scholarships support the education and career goals of those who are part of the outdoor advertising families.

Industry families have received more than $90,000 to educate their children.
Six $3,000 scholarships and one $4,5000 scholarship are available for:
- Undergraduate and graduate students currently enrolled at an accredited institution.
- High school seniors accepted to an undergraduate program at an accredited institution.
- Students accepted into a master’s or doctoral program.

FOARE 2009- 2010 Scholarship Winners

The following have been selected to receive $3,000 scholarships from the Foundation for Outdoor Advertising Research and Education (FOARE) for the 2009-2010 academic year:

Kristin Alt, of Grand Rapids, MI, a graduate student, seeking an Executive Masters Degree in Advertising Design at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ms. Alt has worked as a designer at an outdoor advertising company.

Katharine Carson, of LaCrosse, WI, a junior enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Stout seeking a B.S. in Dietetics. Ms. Carson is the daughter of Keith Carson of Collins Outdoor Advertising in LaCrosse, WI.

Brian McMillan, of Morgantown, WV, a graduate student, seeking an M.D. at the West Virginia University School of Medicine in Morgantown, WV. Mr. McMillan is the son of James McMillan, a VP/General Manager for Lamar Advertising.

Katherine Polenick
, of Warren, OH, a freshman, enrolled at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH, seeking a B.S. in Industrial Design. Ms. Polenick’s mother is a graphic designer who has worked in outdoor and other forms of advertising.

Noelle Stevenson, of Columbia, SC, a freshman, enrolled at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD, seeking a BFA in Illustration. Ms. Stevenson is the daughter of Hal Stevenson, the owner of Grace Outdoor.

Seung-Chul Yoo, of Austin, TX, a graduate student, seeking a PhD in advertising at the University of Texas at Austin. Mr. Yoo has worked as an outdoor advertising planner and is conducting academic research on the industry. He plans to begin a new research project on the impact of digital outdoor advertising on implicit attitude formation.

Anna Jacobson, of Atlanta, GA, a graduate student, has been designated the recipient of the Ruth Segal Scholarship in the amount of $4,500. Ms. Jacobson is seeking an MBA at the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. Ms. Jacbson formerly worked for Lamar Advertising and now works as an account manager at Porterscope, an out-of-home specialist communication company.
