2007-2008 Outdoor Advertising Scholarship Winners

Seven college students - all with family ties to the outdoor industry - will receive scholarships for the 2007-08 academic year from the Foundation for Outdoor Advertising Research and Education (FOARE).

"Scholarships help open doors to college today, and these students will be leaders tomorrow," said Paul Cook of Wolverine Sign Works and president of the Foundation.

Amanda Franzen of Carlisle, PA, was named the recipient of the ($3,000) Ruth Segal Scholarship. (The Ruth Segal Scholarship was established in memory of the late OAAA staff member who worked tirelessly to educate federal and state policymakers about the outdoor advertising industry.)

Franzen, a second-year law school student at the Pennsylvania State University Dickinson School of Law, plans on a career in public interest law. Amanda’s father Roy Franzen is a sign poster for Lamar Advertising Company.
