– The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) is joining with longtime partner Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) in a new out of home (OOH) PSA campaign to communicate the importance of safe, affordable, supervised afterschool programs for kids in need.
Using the theme "Great Futures Start Here", the campaign invites local communities to support neighborhood-based organizations such as Boys & Girls Clubs to help combat the high school dropout crisis and the youth obesity epidemic, as well as provide much-needed character development and citizenship opportunities for kids who need it most.
"OAAA is excited to continue its advocacy efforts on behalf of America's children through our partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America," said Nancy Fletcher, president and CEO, OAAA. "The OOH advertising industry is committed to provide public service advertising to promote social causes, and there is no work more important than helping kids in need throughout the country."
The new billboards feature thought-provoking messages to attract attention to the need for more Clubs in more communities. A variety of formats are available, allowing BGCA to maximize its outreach to potential donors, civic leaders, and parents.
“We are proud to partner with OAAA to support young people across the country,” said Evan McElroy, chief marketing officer, BGCA. “With three out of 10 children in America failing to graduate from high school on time, and an equal number overweight and unhealthy, we believe it is time for our nation to take action and reverse these dangerous trends. Our nation's future success depends on this current generation of tomorrow's citizens ands leaders."
OAAA partnered with BGCA in 2009 on the successful "Be Great" OOH advertising campaign, which featured the childhood photos of numerous prominent Club alumni. The campaign encouraged young people to reach for their dreams and aspirations, by staying in school and making good life choices. The "Great Futures Start Here" messaging evolved from the popularity of "Be Great", still a popular motto with kids in the Clubs nationwide. The new campaign is available in a variety of OOH formats, including bulletins, posters, and displays for airports, bus shelters, shopping malls, and taxi tops.
