Founded in 1891, the Outdoor Advertising Association of America, Inc. (OAAA) is the trade association for outdoor advertising, with member companies representing over 90% of industry revenues. Through advocacy of reasonable legislation, support of sales and marketing efforts, and commitment to quality operations on all levels of business, the OAAA is the united voice of outdoor advertising.
Government Affairs
The OAAA represents the industry on Capitol Hill and before the U.S. Department of Transportation. It is actively involved in working with Congressional Members and their staffs on legislative issues affecting the industry, and with officials at the Federal Highway Administration on issues relating to implementation of the Highway Beautification Act and related rulemaking.
The OAAA builds and maintains a grassroots network of industry activists and provides legislative and regulatory updates on a regular basis. The OAAA staff provides technical assistance, training and materials on legislative, political and regulatory issues to OAAA members and to a national network of state associations.
Marketing & Industry Promotion
The OAAA's marketing staff works with advertisers, agencies, investors and educators to increase awareness and understanding of outdoor advertising. The OAAA provides valuable information including creative and research assistance, sales and marketing materials, and educational seminars.
The OAAA sponsors the annual OBIE Awards, recognizing creative excellence in outdoor advertising, and holds an annual Outdoor Media Day Seminar for buyers and planners.
Communications
The OAAA provides a weekly newsletter and clippings service to its members, offers press alerts and guidance, serves as an industry press resource and coordinates national public service campaigns. The OAAA develops and houses an extensive publications library of newsletters, brochures, videos, economic data, ongoing research, surveys and issue briefs.

Membership Services
The OAAA provides useful training and education opportunities including a biennial National Convention, an Operations Conference, a Legislative Conference, a Legal Forum, and Sales & Marketing Training Programs.
Product Quality & New Technologies
The OAAA works with its members to enhance outdoor product quality, improve safety, set standards, conduct research and development, and encourage new technologies. Involvement with major federal regulatory agencies ensures that safety is paramount in all outdoor operations.
